

Heather N. Kaplan
ATTORNEY AT LAW
Heather has been a practicing attorney since 2003. She is well known by the community, her peers and clients as being a true advocate for the injured worker. She is very passionate about her local charity work, hosting events since 2019, focused on "spreading joy".
A Brooklyn native, Heather has called Long Island her home for more than thirty years. After graduating from Brooklyn College, she attended Hofstra University School of Law and graduated in 2002.
She began her career as an attorney representing doctors in medical malpractice actions in New York State Supreme Court. She regularly appeared in the New York State Appellate Courts and conducted extensive oral arguments, depositions and trials. In 2007, she became focused on Workers’ Compensation and began to practice law not only in the New York Supreme Court but at the Workers’ Compensation Board.
Heather Kaplan is an accomplished litigator and has achieved excellent results at the Workers’ Compensation Board, New York Supreme Court and at the Appellate Courts.

Heather taught college and graduate level classes at Cornell University Satellite School and at Long Island University for a total of ten years. She taught Employment Law and Discrimination, Business Ethics and Labor, Unions & Employment Relations.
​
She is also admitted to the United States District Court, Southern District. Heather is also a member of the New York Insured Workers’ Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association and the New York Injured Workers' Bar Association.
Ms. Kaplan currently resides on Long Island with her husband and three daughters and three dogs.

Lisa Kleinman
OFFICE MANAGER/SETTLEMENT COORDINATOR
Lisa has been an integral part of the HNK team since 2020. In addition to managing the daily workplace activities, Lisa works closely with the insurance company representatives to negotiate settlements/resolutions on behalf of our clients. Her vast knowledge of workers' compensation law and her kind disposition make her a "go to" contact for many of our clients.
Lisa lives on Long Island with her husband and three children. She enjoys making gourmet chocolate treats and used to manage a chocolate shop!
Brittany Garavelli
CLIENT LIAISON
Brittany is an essential part of the HNK team. She assists our clients with all aspects of their claims. From initial consultations to critical updates, Brittany is available to our clients every step of the way.

Brittany also coordinates many of our firms’ events, including our very popular dinner seminars.
​
Brittany graduated from Binghamton University and received her Master’s degree at Queens College. She taught elementary school for several years before she became a mother. She joined our firm in 2018. She resides on Long Island with her husband and two children.


Rachel Bookman
CLIENT RELATIONS COORDINATOR
Rachel joined the HNK team in 2021. She is familiar with all of our clients and makes herself available to address any questions and concerns that are presented. Rachel is bilingual (English & Spanish), knowledgeable and friendly. She is a true advocate for the injured worker and we are lucky to have her as part of our team.

Kiko
COM-PAW-SATION SPECIALIST
Kiko is a vital part of our team, starting his employment at our firm in January 2022 at the young age of 8-weeks old! Talk about driven!

Kiko's day-to-day responsibilities include greeting clients, shredding papers, delivering mail, and, of course, organizing the office's stick collection.
​
When he is not working, he can be found napping in front of a heater, playing with toys, or sampling lunches.
​
Be sure to tell Kiko he is a good boy if you see him, although he often calls out of work when it is cold, raining or a Monday.
